The REMOTE project, in the frame of the European program Horizon2020, aims to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of H2 fuel cells energy storage solutions for renewable energy in remote areas.
HORIZON S.A. participates as one of the four companies – end users that are case studies for demonstration (DEMOs) in a consortium of 11 partners. The project regards the installation of a hydrogen fuel cell system for energy storage in a privately owned land in Agkistro (region of Serres), which is in a remote area, near the hydropower plant that HORIZON S.A. owns, so that its feeding is provided. The system aims to meet the energy loads of an industrial food processing building, which HORIZON DIATROFIKI Mon. I.K.E. (subsidiary of HORIZON S.A.) is planning to build in the same area, and ultimately at its energy autonomy.
